Strictly Spoiler 2025 – Note to Editors

Well it’s been a whirlwind couple of hours after waking up to a bit of a media shit storm and requests for comment from a number of newspapers and other media outlets. All this has come from a sensationalist piece from the Daily Fail claiming I am making £5000 a month from operating this website based on information from an apparent “insider” (more on that later). Apparently I’ve entered a timewarp and it is now September as thats usually when the spoiler bashing begins!

Firstly the Dail Fail article once again suggests I am spoiling the Strictly Come Dancing results for fans of the show suggesting I am spoiling the results for people who don’t want to know. Yes here we are in 2025 and some people still aren’t grasping why this site exists. I do not spoil the results for people who don’t want to know. I spoil them for people who want to seek the results out as soon as they become available and hundreds of thousands of people flock to the website on a Saturday night or over the course of Sunday to learn the results. They make a concisious choice to either click on a link on my socials or google for this website. The only reason this site exists is because of the huge demand for it.

Secondly I make no secret of the fact that operating this website is my job and the aim of most jobs is to make money to live off. I receive income from three main revenue streams and they are the adverts this site runs or other forms of online marketing, the donation system (which may be better thought of as a tip jar for the service I provide) and the patreon system which provides additional content such as the ad free spoiler or the exit poll results in exchange for a monthly/annual subscription fee. These income streams are not too different to how many other content creators make money and aren’t too different to how newspapers like the Daily Fail do either except I haven’t started to charge for people rejecting cookies or paywalled my content.

As far as the accuracy of the figures being quoted by the Daily Fail’s source are they accurate? Unfortunately it depends. The revenue from the advertising on this site is highly variable, has been in stready decline since 2021 (although the 2021 series was unique as audiences were limited due to Covid and I was one of the only sources able to source a full spoiler on a Sunday morning during this series), and depends on multiple different factors including how many people come to the website during a weekend, how much advertisers are bidding for ad space and whether huge seasonal events like Black Friday or Christmas are approaching.

Have there been months when I’ve hit the £5k or £3k being quoted. Yes, however these figures are also before operating expenses. My hosting during Strictly can easily hit £1k a month and then there are the regular competitions I run and many other operating expenses that go through the accounts I submit to HMRC and many of these expenses are incurred all year round including in the quiet season. However the headlines from the article suggest I’m making this kind of money all year round to which my response would be “I wish”. I’d love to be making £60k a year but I’m not. My last tax return was made for the 23/24 tax year and reported a net profit of approximately £12k. In case any Daily Fail journos need help using a calculator this equates to a monthly income of approximately £1k which is quite different to the £5k figures being banded around though this is because like anyone who files a tax return this is done on an annual basis and not on the basis of a few months in winter.

As well as revealing my tax return figure above I am delighted to be able to reveal that the sum I made from the adverts on this site during the month of May 2025 was 78p. This is not even high enough to trigger a payment from my ad network.

The Daily Fail article also makes reference to me living in a £70k home. This is inaccurate for a number of reasons. Firstly I moved out of the home they are referring to in 2023. Furthermore I rented that, and my new, home from a housing association so the value of my home is irrelevant and clearly an attempt by the Daily Fail to make it appear like I am getting rich from this when I am not, not that a £70k house is remotely a sign of getting rich in today’s housing market!

On a personal note the Daily Fail article includes photographs they have printed previously of myself and my now ex wife. Given I strongly believe my ex wife (or someone in her camp) was their source for the figures being banded around especially as my ex wife has been fairly vindictive throughout the break up and the upcoming divorce proceedings it probably serves her right to have her photographs paraded around these articles again however it isn’t really appropriate for the Daily Fail or any other media organisation to be printing images of someone who no longer has any connection to me in stories about me, especially as those pictures are from 2021 and are grossly out of date. Other than to say that the decision to end the marriage was mine and I have no regrets about making that decision last month I have nothing further to say about the breakup of my marriage and ask the media respect both my and my ex wife’s privacy.

On a final note as I have been approached for comment from multiple media organisations I am happy for media organisations to quote this statement as long as there is a link to this statement in their articles. Normal rules concering my copyrighted content apply in the event that no link is included

Weekly Poll – Who is your champion of champions?

It’s time for another weekly poll but before that we need the results from last week’s poll. Last week I asked you if you would miss Brendan during the next series of strictly after he announced his departure last week. 676 of you voted and the results are in with 64% of you saying you will miss him and 36% of you saying you will not.

Moving on this week’s poll we’re taking a look at all 15 couples who have won a main series of Strictly Come Dancing and this week I’m asking you who your champion of champions would be. You can select just one champion so make it count.

[poll id=”61″]

Or you can join the discussion on the posts on Facebook or Twitter using the links above and tell me what you think about this week’s poll question or select your own poll question that I may use in the upcoming weeks.

Finally don’t forget that whilst we are in the off season the donation button still remains open (but also entirely optional) if anyone wants to help me out with the cost of running this site or just wants to buy me a beer. You can use the button below but the big corporate bigwigs at PayPal will take their own cut if you use the button or you can use THIS LINK which sends all the money to me
