Strictly Come Dancing 2019 – Week 8 Spoilers

Strictly is booking tickets to Blackpool with the 8 remaining couples all fighting for a place on the bus to Blackpool Tower next week. But one couple will miss the bus having been eliminated tonight and I can reveal that…….

Michelle and Mike had to dance off. The judges unanimously saved Michelle. Mike was eliminated!

Complaints to the BBC.

This week’s spoiler has come from an audience mole through the spoiler groups I work with and should be accurate.

What do you think of the results? As always you can let me know right here in the comments section or over on Facebook or Twitter. Also quick apologies to those on those networks, I was unable to do my regular commentary tonight due to other commitments. Normal service should be resumed next week!

Each time you get involved in the discussion you earn an entry into this month’s prize draw to win an iPad.

Talking of winning don’t forget that if you can spot the hidden password in this spoiler post and reply to either of the competition posts on Facebook or Twitter with the password and #StrictlySpoilerComp you could win a £50 Amazon UK Voucher. Entries close at the start of tomorrow’s not live results show! However again due to other commitments the draw will be held later than normal. Apologies once again

You can still vote in this week’s poll and tell me who you wanted to see on the bus to Blackpool. As always you can pick up to 3 options!

    1. Hardly. Everybody probably thought she was safe as a judges’ favourite for the final and so voted for someone else, that’s all. If it was Xenophobia she’d have been in the dance-off long before now, wouldn’t she.

      1. I mean…. not really. It’s possible she’s been last in votes every week but because she’s always high up the leaderboard the lowest scoring couples need a lot of votes to catch her and at least 2 haven’t made it every time. I sincerely hope you’re right, because I love her and tonight was one of my favourite dances ever on Strictly, but the numbers say she has always had the judges’ scores to avoid the dance-off with or without votes. This week with only 8 couples remaining that stopped being true.

        1. And yet there she is, polling No.2 right here. In so many years previous there’ve been shock favourites in the dance-off, but there’s always someone comes on here dripping about racism or xenophobia or some other PC-ism or -obia. The simplest answer is usually the right one; people thought she was safe at the top of the leader board and voted to try to make sure someone else got to Blackpool believing Michelle was a shoo-in.

          1. Think you need to go back over previous series to see how often Black or mixed race contestants have been among the first to go and no they were not the worsrt dancers. Yes it’s only a bit of fun and most complainers don’t even vote, but the stats are there.

        2. Adam. Think *you* need to go back over previous winners, and look at the likes of Ore Oduba, Louis Smith, Alesha Dixon, Mark Ramprakash… not forgetting of course finalists like Alexandra Burke, Chelsea Healey, Natalie Gumede, Simon Webbe… and that’s your ‘Black and mixed race’ nonsense completely blown out of the water, isn’t it.

  1. My heart leapt out of my chest when I read that Michelle was in the bottom two despite getting the 2nd highest score. I hope she doesn’t wind up getting continually shafted in terms of public votes the same way Ashley did last season. She should be in the top 4.

  2. Hi Dave, don’t know why but it is not possible for me to vote on my favourite three today. I can see the % results so far, but I should be able to see the usual list of couples to vote on and then the voting box to click. Can you help please when you have a moment? Thanks, Carina

    1. Usually this means someone else on the same network as you has voted in the poll too. The poll system uses a combination of cookies and IP Addresses to prevent multiple voting

You can try clearing cookies and connecting to a different network (or turning wifi off on your phone to use your data connection instead) to get around this

  3. Surprised about Michelle, thought she was a fan favourite. Almost never read any negative comment about her anywhere (as contrary to Ashley). Can’t say I would be too sad to see her go though, but there are still other people in who dance much worse than her. However I also think Chris doesn’t really deserve to go to Blackpool.

  4. What the hell is going on, had a feeling there would be another shock contestant in the dance-off. Perhaps, though it had to be someone as good as Michelle rather than Emma or Chris to beat Mike!

  5. Stunned to hear Michelle was in the dance off, I didn’t see that coming. No way is she in the bottom two. Mike was no surprise, he’s had a good run.
