Strictly Come Dancing 2017 – Week 12 Discussion/Poll

The final is almost upon us but before they can think about the glitterball there is one more hurdle to navigate, the semi final!

Who deserves a place in next week’s final? And who should be so cruelly left behind after getting so close? The site has moved web hosts once again this week, hopefully to a solution that should be in theory unbreakable but I’m sure someone will find a way ?. You can read more about the latest site move here. So far the new hosting has cost me £27 and thats before you guys place it under heavy load tonight.

Spoiler is expected some time around or after 10pm however with two routines each to get through tonight there could be some variation on this. Best thing to if you want to be alerted the second the spoiler comes in is to follow me on Twitter or like The Strictly Spoiler on Facebook as alerts are sent to both those networks as soon as I have the spoiler.

Strictly Come Dancing 2017 – Week 11 Discussion/Poll

There’s a two for one on spoilers this week as not only will the regular elimination spoiler be coming in later tonight but I’ve also got the spoiler all the newspapers are talking about, but refusing to publish because they don’t want to be struck off the BBC’s christmas card list, and that is The Christmas Special Spoiler

But back onto this week and it’s not only the quarter final of Strictly Come Dancing 2017 but its also time for our annual trip to the musicals with the 6 remaining couples all dancing to routines inspired by the musicals. But who was a west end smash? And who flopped?

On the subject of which at some point this weekend I will have SIX winners to tell you about as due to other commitments and a site move I didn’t get around to doing last weeks draw. These winners will more than likely be announced on the elimination post tomorrow.

Sorry no poll this week as it’s causing issues with the caching software being used to try and increase server performance at peak times

Spoiler as always will be incoming some time around 10:30pm. To try and combat the site outages that have plagued the site the last few weeks at peak times, the site has this week been moved to a new host who claims to be able to cope with 300 million page views a month but let’s maybe not test that too thoroughly just in case ?. Especially as due to some compatibility issues and time constraints in resolving them I haven’t got a CDN deployed at the moment to take the strain off my server so all load will be on my new server tonight. About 2 of you will have understood that last sentence I’m sure ?

Strictly Come Dancing 2017 – Week 10 Discussion/Poll

Strictly has left Blackpool behind but for the 7 remaining couples the complete carnage that will be the pasodoblathon (yes that is a word….. just ask the BBC) awaits.

But who shone for you this week and should make it into next week’s quarter final and who shouldn’t have bothered coming back from Blackpool?

If you’re on the site waiting for the spoiler, and why wouldn’t you be it’s why we’re all here, can I please ask that you are considerate to other users when refreshing the site. Last week one single user refreshed the site a ridiculous 1500 times according to my host which may have contributed towards the downtime. By refreshing less you’re helping not only other people view the spoiler but also yourselves. If the site isn’t working and I can’t get on it, I can’t post the spoiler!

Best thing to do is to join the communities on Facebook or Twitter and as soon as the spoiler gets posted alerts will be sent to both those networks. There will be no real time spoiler updates this week as they haven’t been helping with the downtime. There will just be the full result as soon as I have it!

In the event of the site going down again like it did last week it may also be best to just check in the morning. The next step up in terms of a web hosting solution moves me from paying tens of pounds a month to host this site to hundreds and it’s simply not affordable for me at the moment.
